Richmond Crescent, N120 July, 2017
The Clients had purchased this large 4 storey mid-terraced house and came to us with a brief to create additional bright living space at lower ground floor level but also to maintain access to the huge garden from ground floor level. The answer was to excavate and build a subterranean Games Room below the garden and a large single storey extension with walk-on glass panels. 5 No. sets of sliding/folding glass doors provided flexibility and good circulation between all living/dining spaces and the new internal lightwell area.
The Clients main concern was not to lose sight of the landscape garden from inside the house at lower ground floor level; the shallow pitch stone clad tapered steps leading away from the house with open planters either side complete with irrigation systems and recessed lighting produced an ideal solution.
We negotiated a difficult planning process but were successfull in obtaining permission for the underground room extension and also for a loft conversion within the existing roof frame to provide an additional bedroom and bathroom facility.
Damp vault areas were restored and turned into useful Utilities/Laundry Room areas and a walk-in Pantry/Larder.
